featuring Eddie Palmieri Salsa Orchestra

August 27, 2011

in the Plaza Guadalupe

GALA DINNER

Join us in the beautiful and historic Guadalupe Theater for a festive meal that will capture the Latin flavors and rhythms of San Antonio, stunning salsa dancing, and a silent auction stocked with unique items. This elegant dinner will gather San Antonio’s political, business, and cultural leaders to celebrate the GCAC’s contribution to Chicano/Latino arte, cultura y communidad.

SALSA DANCE CONTEST

A handful of couples will compete in a salsa dance contest for a chance to win a free trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina! The audience at the gala dinner will vote for their favorite couple. Registration for the contest is limited to gala attendees, and is available in advance so there is time to polish those moves! For rules and guidelines on the dance contest click here.

COMMUNITY CONCERT IN THE PLAZA

Our entire community is invited to be part of the celebration with an outdoor concert in the Plaza Guadalupe. Concert goers will be invited to dance the summer night away to the world-class salsa sounds of Eddie Palmieri and his orchestra. Gala Dinner guests also receive VIP seating with complementary snacks and drinks for the Eddie Palmieri Concert in the Plaza Guadalupe following dinner.

Palmieri  has been called, "The Sun of Latin Music" The mark he's carved on the history of Latin music goes unquestioned. Part icon and part perfectionist, elder statesman Eddie Palmieri is, without a doubt, the consummate musician.

Eddie Palmieri, a restless, yet instinctive artist, embraces the future of his music by unapologetically blazing a distinctive musical path to the delight of fans across the globe. A true powerhouse of brilliance, known for his astute arranging skills and historic compositions, Mr. Palmieri has shown that time is infinite with respect to his repertoire as he continues to thrill audiences throughout the world with his legendary style.
